We were Project Producers on the 1620 Lanterns in Boston for Transported Art. Due to lockdown the yearly Illuminate Festival had to be cancelled. We devised a way to carry on the project, within the lockdown guidance. We created a pop up exhibition of lanterns made by the local community which were displayed around Boston on the evening of the 26th November, 400 years since the Pilgrims.
We also encouraged the community to make their own lanterns to display in a window in their own house, which linked to the rainbows displayed in windows during the first lockdown.
We created tutorials that were part of a Lantern Toolkit, took over Tranported Art's social media on the night of the lantern exhibition and curated the lanterns exhibited during the night.
